Independence Marathon 2026
4th October, 2026 | Metroplex Shopping Centre.
At Metroplex, we were proud to host the 2026 Independence Marathon on Sunday, 4 October, as Uganda geared up to celebrate 64 years of independence.
Organised by Robert Kabushenga under the theme “Save a Mother”, the race brought together hundreds of runners, from elite athletes to families and corporate teams. They ran to support the Mengo Rotary Blood Bank in setting up modern cold storage for safe blood for mothers. Chief Runner Dr. Diana Atwine, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, led the field, with support from Stanbic Bank Uganda, Old Mutual, TMR Hospital and Jet Tour.
